Saree weaving in Venkatagiri, Andhra Pradesh dates back to 1700 when the tradition of saree weaving was performed under the royal patronage of the Venkatagiri Dynasty, Velugoti dynasty and the Bobbili dynasty. The same craft has been practiced for generations.
